Position Summary
We are seeking a Machine Operator to join our 1st shift production team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in operating and maintaining a variety of CNC and digital cutting equipment, including Zünd, Weeke, Northwood, and Kongsberg machines. In lieu of experience, we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates strong aptitude, eagerness to learn and dedication. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and accurate production of high-quality materials according to specifications.
Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor various digital cutting and CNC machines (Zünd, Weeke, Northwood, Kongsberg) to produce parts and products accurately and efficiently.
Material Handling: Load and unload materials onto machines, ensuring proper alignment and securing for cutting or machining processes.
Quality Control: Perform in-process quality checks, inspect finished products for defects, and ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Conduct routine preventative maintenance on machines, clean equipment, and troubleshoot minor operational issues to minimize downtime. Report complex issues to maintenance or supervisors.
Software & Programming: Understand and apply machine software/interfaces for job setup, nesting, and basic program adjustments. Work with CAD/CAM files as needed.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, machine operation guidelines, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs, quality control records, and other necessary documentation.
Collaboration: Work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals and deadlines.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to processes, efficiency, and quality.
Requirements
Qualifications
Experience: Experience operating Zünd, Weeke, Northwood, and/or Kongsberg CNC or digital cutting machines. Specific experience with 2 or more of these brands is highly desirable but not required.
Technical Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.
Familiarity with various materials (e.g., wood, plastics, composites, foam, corrugated, textiles, etc.) and their machining properties.
Basic computer proficiency, including experience with machine-specific software.
Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve minor machine issues independently.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in work.
Work Ethic: Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certification in machine operation, CNC technology, or a related field is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Capable of lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment
Manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery noise and potential hazards
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
