About The Position

Job Title: Nurse Practitioner Profession: Nurse Practitioner Specialty: Surgery - Trauma Duration: Temporary Shift: Varied 12-hour shifts or 24-hour shifts Hours per Shift: 12 or 24 Experience: Minimum experience required in trauma; new graduates will not be considered. License: Active Ohio license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, Board Certified, DEA required. Must-Have: - Board Certified (ANCC, AANP) - Active Ohio license - DEA - BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS Certified - Previous experience in trauma Description: Looking for temporary Nurse Practitioner coverage in trauma surgery. Coverage needed for specified dates in July and August. Practice setting involves inpatient care, daily rounding, new consults, and admissions. The average number of patients per day ranges from 6 to 12. Documentation system used is Epic. The trauma level designation is Level 2 for adults. The Nurse Practitioner will not be working autonomously. A supervising physician will be present during the assignment. The trauma attending surgeon will be assigned to each 24-hour shift. Surgeons typically take calls from home but are available within 15 minutes or via phone. Required procedures include suturing minor lacerations and responding to trauma alerts from the emergency department. The role involves surgical consultations, emergency room admissions, and facilitating discharges. The Nurse Practitioner will also participate in house codes and rapid response team activities. Completion of FAST exams at the bedside is required, with reports made to the oncoming Nurse Practitioner. General surgery coverage is needed from 5 PM to 7 AM on weekdays and for the full 24 hours on weekends. Specialty backup will be available for any additional procedures needed. The patient demographic includes individuals from birth to geriatric age, with approximately 5% pediatric, 35% adult, and 60% geriatric. Estimated credentialing timeframe is ASAP. Lodging provided will cover approximately $150 per night.
