Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is looking for an Entry Level System Design Engineer (Level 1) to join our Mission Systems Operations team in Aurora, Colorado.

The Northern Lights Ground Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of maintaining 24x7 operational systems. Our group works all facets of spacecraft operations from ground system obsolescence, upgrades and maintenance supporting spacecraft control, spacecraft system engineering, mission planning, and vehicle engineering.

The Entry Level System Design Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in highly complex operational systems. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other software developers, system testers, external engineering groups, and our customer to resolve anomalies, integrate new or upgraded systems, and strive for 100% mission success. We’re seeking a highly talented, motivated, and creative system design engineer to implement new solutions and maintain existing capabilities for the national intelligence community. The successful candidate will design software solutions, implement, and maintain a system supporting spacecraft operations.

Position Responsibilities:

System design engineer development tasks including detailed design development, and unit testing of customer desired features/user requirements.

Briefing design plans and demonstrating system release functionality to customer, stakeholders, and end users.

Design new and existing applications; as well as troubleshoot and resolve various system issues working with the design and test teams.

Support ongoing lifecycle maintenance of operational baseline and the quality efforts of our Boeing product deliveries to our customers.

Willingness to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java, Linux, and/or Windows

Must be willing to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret/SCI and adjudicated CI polygraph PRE-start is required. A U.S. Security Clearance can take 8 - 16 months or more to be granted after offer acceptance.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $73,100 - $98,900

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with a Counterintelligence Polygraph Pre-Start is required.
