About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Resource Management Flight, NAF Accounting Office, Fairchild AFB, WA.
Examines and verifies a variety of documents to determine their mathematical correctness and completeness of information. Performs both receiving and disbursing cashier duties. Responsible for both receiving and processing deposits from all the activities. Performs complex clerical duties.

Duties
Routine work is performed independently. The supervisor checks the work to ensure compliance with procedures and directives. Performs general accounting work in order to maintain a combination of journals and ledgers. Examines and verifies a variety of documents to determine their mathematical correctness and completeness of information. Documents may include but not limited to cash receipts, cash register tapes, checks, credit card receipts, purchase orders, vouchers, payrolls, property records, which may be complicated by discounts and partial payments. Resolves activity personnel accounting disagreements. Completes posting documents with backups attached, codes, documents, and posts to appropriate ledgers or journals. Helps maintain accounting bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledgers. Prepares worksheets, statements, and closes accounts. Prepares reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial conditions of all activities serviced by the accounting unit. Performs both receiving and disbursing cashier duties. Responsible for both receiving and processing deposits from all the activities. Performs complex clerical duties. Uses word processing software to produce a variety of documents. For example, uses database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort, calculate and retrieve data for reports; uses graphic software to provide charts and graphs for viewgraphs. Transmits and receives documents and messages electronically using PCs that are networked or linked through a central processing unit. Types a wide variety of material, where spacing arrangements are complicated, directly in final format without a rough draft. Includes responsibility for correct spelling, paragraphing, grammar, and format. Performs a variety of general office duties such as receiving telephone calls, visitors, routing, filing correspondence, and maintaining files. Performs other related duties as assigned.
* This is a developmental position having known promotion potential to the NF-0525-III level. Upon a minimum of 1 year experience and receiving a performance rating of satisfactory or higher as an Accounting Technician, NF-II, or training verification/certification by Resource Manager, the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the higher pay band when a NF-III Accounting Technician (with a PD# of 60028 or 70040) position is vacated within the Resource Management /Accounting NAFAO office.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience with general knowledge of accounting procedures and techniques. Must have knowledge of procedures used to enter, modify, retrieve, and delete information using automated general ledger systems. Must have ability to analyze accounting interrelationships that are affected by variable transactions. Must demonstrate progressive responsibility in general clerical experience involving arithmetic accuracy, and attention to detail. Highly preferred experience in working with receipts, disbursements, examinations, deposits, custodies, processing of direct handling of cash items and use of cash accountability control methods. Must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate high customer service demand skills. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
