Program Coordinator II

Under minimal supervision, coordinates administrative, personnel and logistical support for a defined department program(s), often of a large and/or complex nature. Carries out established program objectives and directives. Follows established guidelines or protocols. Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments. May participate in program planning and in setting program objectives. May supervise support staff. May act as a communication liaison and special events planner. Interfaces with outside resources such as volunteers, alumni, patients, other professionals in a defined field or with continuing education students. May be responsible for adherence to program budget and/or other fiscal duties. May assist with grant and contract preparation and submission. May handle data management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for promoting the UAB Department of Theatre to prospective students and their families.

Develop and implement recruiting initiatives that support application and enrollment goals in the Department of Theatre.

Track and manage student applications in the Department of Theatre.

Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the recruitment efforts of the Department of Theatre.

Plan and implement recruitment activities including faculty and staff visits to high schools, in-state and out-of-state college fairs, on-campus recruitment events (i.e. UAB Days, preview performances of Theatre UAB productions, workshops, and festivals), and individual campus visits by prospective students.

Work directly with students/families, high school teachers, high school and independent counselors, community colleges, and community-based organizations to expand and build outreach for the UAB Department of theatre. Create and execute a strategic plan for recruitment that includes recruitment strategies, tactics, resource requests, external messaging, and events that will help to achieve overall enrollment goals.

Provide individual and group presentations to prospective students, parents, high school teachers and guidance counselors, and community colleges, on the admissions processes, policies, financial aid/scholarship options, campus housing, academic, and co-curricular experiences.

Promote the UAB Department of Theatre on various social media platforms (Face Book, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).

Develop and maintain professional relationships with high school teachers and counselors and community college theatre faculties and counselors in the region. Partner with the UAB Alumni Association and coordinate strategies for recruitment and outreach to prospective students and families.

Work/liaise with UAB Undergraduate Admissions as needed Coordinate and oversee on-campus and virtual auditions.

Manage Get Acceptd account and application process.

Respond to all applicants and schedule auditions.

Conduct an annual review of student recruitment practices.

Report to the department chair.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Hourly Pay Range: $18.35 - $29.80

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferences:

Undergraduate degree in appropriate field. Experience in student recruitment, education advocacy, or college counseling in higher education. Detail-oriented. Knowledge of: Performing arts training in higher education. Standard university recruiting and admissions practices. Sales and/or territory management techniques. University-specific management systems. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.

Personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work in a collaborative and effective manner with students, alumni, diverse families, administrators, and faculty.

Work and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Manage a complex daily, weekly, and monthly schedule with recurring important professional commitments on and off-campus.

Exercise independent judgment and autonomy regarding work planning. Work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

Working conditions: Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

Incumbent must be able to communicate with others.

May require occasional travel on and off campus.

Work schedule: Non-traditional hours to include travel.
