Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Small Engine Mechanic to maintain and repair a variety of small engine equipment used in commercial roofing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with gas-powered tools and machines such as generators, air compressors, kettles, saws, and other roofing-related equipment. This role is vital to ensure that crews have reliable, safe, and well-maintained equipment on job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose, maintain, and repair small engines and equipment used in commercial roofing operations.

Maintenance on company vehicles, including oil changes, brakes, etc.

Perform routine service and preventative maintenance on tools and machines (e.g., tar kettles, power brooms, handheld saws, compactors, blowers, etc.).

Maintain service records, order replacement parts, and manage equipment inventory.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies for all tools and equipment.

Assist with general fleet or facility maintenance when needed.

Respond to emergency repair calls and perform on-site equipment troubleshooting.

Maintain a clean and organized shop and work environment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.

2+ years of experience as a small engine mechanic, preferably in a construction or roofing environment.

Strong understanding of small gas engine diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.

Familiarity with roofing equipment is a plus.

Ability to read schematics and repair manuals.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Skills:

Welding and fabrication experience.

Experience with propane- or diesel-powered equipment.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Work Environment:

Combination of shop and job site environments.

Travel to job sites required.

Must adhere to strict safety protocols.
