Job Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer role requires an individual with strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in Microsoft environments, proficiency in DevOps practices, and a solid understanding of data networking and network security. This role will oversee a small team of IT staff to manage our corporate LAN network and desktop, server, and cloud infrastructure along with applications supported by IT.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Supervise and mentor a small team of IT staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Manage and maintain Microsoft desktop and server environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Oversee Azure cloud infrastructure, including the deployment and management of virtual machines, storage solutions, and networking components.
Implement and manage containerized workloads using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Assist in developing and maintaining DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) of applications and services.
Ensure the security and integrity of data networks, implementing best practices for network security and monitoring.
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to systems, networks, and applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and secure IT solutions.
Research and recommend new technologies to enhance IT infrastructure and operational efficiency.
Focus on system and network security, ensuring adherence to security protocols, while maintaining a high standard of protection against threats.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements and innovations.
Contribute to various projects working with minimal supervision, including aiding other departments and team members, as directed.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
Extensive experience with Azure cloud services, Hyper-V virtual machines and SAN storage, and networking.
Advanced skills with Microsoft SQL DB Management and Linux Server Management.
Proficiency in managing containerized workloads using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Git, etc.
Excellent data networking skills, including configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and firewalls.
Solid understanding of network security principles, with a focus on zero trust security models.
Working Conditions
Hybrid work schedule with in-office and at-home workdays. Schedule may vary depending on business needs.
Indoor office working environment with prolonged sitting.
Other Requirements
Proven experience in supervising and leading IT teams.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering or a related IT role. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CCNP) are a plus.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is required.
