DUTIES: Engage in cross-functional collaboration within an Agile enviro (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe). Participate in design sessions + code reviews to elevate the quality of eng’g across the org. Utilize developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication) to perform advanced-level database design, implementation and maintenance activities under minimal direction. Responsible for triaging and optimizing database, application, and platform related performance issues and configures and resolves issues related to SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and SQL Server Failover Cluster Instance in a Cloud environment. Mentor + support engineers at all jr levels. Share best practices + improve processes within the SQL team. May undergo background checks. Occasional on call for production support 24x7. May require pre-hire technical screen. Telecommuting is permitted from anywhere in the U.S. May work remotely but report to HQ location in: 4608 Willard Ave., Chevy Chase, MD 20815. Multiple positions open. Salary: $143,000 per year.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 4 years of rel exp administering large databases in a high transaction, Always ON, 24x7 Microsoft SQL Server database environment. Requires skills: (3 yrs exp in); writing T-SQL code and building the architecture and designing new/ current systems; and (2 yrs exp in); Cloud Technologies, Cloud native services, Azure Cloud Infrastructure, Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service databases; writing PowerShell scripts; performance and tuning, as well as triaging/troubleshooting critical issues and utilizing tools; and (1 yr exp in); Azure Infrastructure Network and Security; and development and deployment of SSIS/SSRS.
