The Opportunity

This position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division. In Research & Development, our ambition is providing innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience, and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life.

Primary Function

Design and develop nutritional product formulations tailored for global markets, ensuring alignment with evolving consumer needs, product claims, and regulatory standards.

Lead the technical development of products of low-medium complexity and/or support the technical development of products of medium to high complexity.

What You’ll Work On

Plan and execute experimental designs to optimize the physical, nutrient, and sensory properties of products while adhering to relevant internal and external constraints.

Interpret test results, create action plans, communicate through verbal updates and written reports.

Execute commercial production readiness activities on new formulations through the launch of the product.

Identify and evaluate new ingredients for nutritional formulations.

Interact regularly with cross-functional business teams including Marketing, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Regulatory and Legal. May lead or support project Technical Team meetings.

Required Qualifications

PhD Food Science or related scientific field with 0-3 years of practical related experience.

MS in Food Science or related scientific field with 3-6 years relevant experience, typically.

BS in Food Science or related scientific field with 6-12 years relevant experience, typically.

Preferred

Exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong desire and proven ability to thrive in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Skilled in both oral and written communication, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Solid foundation in food chemistry, ingredient interactions, food processing technologies, and product development.

Experienced in translating lab-scale formulations and processes into scalable, commercially viable production systems.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet tight deadlines.

Miscellaneous

Travel 0-10%

Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 6 -8 hours) and lift 25-50 lbs.

The base pay for this position is $66,700.00 – $133,300.00
