A well-established technology company serving the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) industry is seeking a skilled Hardware Engineer to join their product development group. This is a hands-on, non-managerial role that reports directly to the VP of Product Development, with some project oversight responsibilities as assigned.

About the Role

The Hardware Engineer will lead hardware design efforts from concept through production and sustainment. The ideal candidate has strong experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, component-level testing, and product documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop schematics and printed circuit boards (PCBs)

Perform board-level and functional testing

Document design, test procedures, and product updates

Participate in and lead design reviews

Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs)

Support product sustainment and improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering

2-5 years in hardware product development

Strong knowledge of electronic design and testing

Proficiency with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)

Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues at the component and board level

Preferred (Not Required)

Experience with NEMA, ATC, or Caltrans intersection control products

Understanding of roadside data collection and traffic systems

VHDL for FPGA/CPLD development

Embedded C programming knowledge

Project management or leadership experience
