Job Description
American Vascular Associates has an opportunity for a Rad Tech in the Tampa, FL area. This position works in a procedure room setting working with the C-Arm. We have opportunities for full, part-time and per diem. All shifts are during the week, no weekends, no holidays.
Our Scrub Techs are responsible for the correct positioning of the C-Arm and Monitor in the procedure room. When scrubbed in you would be responsible for preparation of the procedure room prior to the initiation of scheduled procedures. You will assist the Physician and help make sure each procedure is performed in a sterile and safe environment.
Pre-Procedure Duties –
Setup the C-Arm and Monitor for the procedure
Add patients’ name to monitor.
Arrange other equipment in the room for easy accessibility
Adjust over-head light for proper positioning
When scrubbed in for procedure -
Based on procedure to be performed, stock procedure room with supplies and instruments that will be needed.
Arrange equipment – i.e. C-Arm, monitor, back table, ultrasound machine, based on procedure being performed.
Prep Duties –
Apply appropriate lead apron, shields, goggles and badge that measures and records own radiation exposure.
Must perform a hand scrub with disinfecting soap prior to entering procedure room to set-up.
When scrubbed in for procedure -
Apply a sterile surgical gown and apply sterile gloves using proper technique.
Set-up sterile table with supplies and tools.
Make sure all equipment is in good working order
Maintain sterility of room
Draping -
When scrubbed in for procedure:
When patient enters the procedure room, the scrub tech will ensure that the patient is positioned correctly on the table
Scrub access sites
Apply proper draping around area to help keep the environment a sterile as possible
Re-gown and re-glove anytime a break in sterile technique occurs during the setup or procedure
Assists with gowning the Physician and other members of the team as needed
Procedural Duties –
Ensure safety precautions are maintained during procedure to help minimize radiation exposure
Follow the routine pattern for the procedure as per procedure with regards to maneuvering the C-Arm during procedure
Download images post procedure
When scrubbed in for procedure -
Assist Physician as requested, but within the scope of your training and certification
Hand appropriate instrument and supplies to the Physician to accomplish required tasks
Assess patient for pain during procedure and report to Physician. The physician will medicate as he deems appropriate
Clean procedure site post procedure and apply dry dressing ensuring homeostasis is achieved
Post-Procedure Duties –
Document radiation usage time
Clean C-Arm machine and prepare for next procedure
When scrubbed in for procedure -
Gather instruments for disposal of sharps
Remove soiled patient drapes and other materials and dispose of properly
May assist with moving the patient from table back to stretcher or chair
Clear sterile table, immediately dispose of bio-medical waste in designated containers, following biohazard safety regulations and proper waste management
Clean and prepare the procedure room to make it ready for the next procedure
Other Duties -
Follow-up phone calls to patient and 1-2 days post procedure
Assist with billing of supplies for each procedure
Monitor supply and inventory levels and keep Administrator/Director informed of supply levels
Place order for supplies at least weekly. Send Purchase Order to Administrator / Director for approval and order
Receive supplies, reconcile order and place in appropriate storage location
As this list cannot be all inclusive, any other duties as delegated by the Administrator / Director, Charge Nurse, or Medical Director, within the scope of your license and/or certification.
Pay Range for this position: $32.00 - $44.00 per hour
