Procurement Intern - Harsco Rail
Harsco Rail is looking for a proactive and analytical Procurement Intern to join our team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in procurement processes, data management, and cost savings analysis within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You'll contribute to key projects that enhance our supply chain efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Data Management & Cleansing:
Assist with Form 843 data cleansing in preparation for an upcoming Infor LN ERP system upgrade, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Support the digitalization and organization of procurement-related data.
Data Analysis & Cost Savings:
Conduct data analysis to identify potential material cost savings (MOD savings) opportunities.
Research market trends and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions.
Supplier Communication & Sourcing:
Prepare and send Request for Quotes (RFQs) to suppliers for various materials and services.
Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of quotes and information.
Team Collaboration & Updates:
Prepare and lead team updates on project progress, findings, and recommendations.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including engineering, operations, and finance teams.
Administrative Support:
Provide administrative support to the procurement team as needed, which may include organizing documents, scheduling meetings, and tracking deliverables.
Knowledge and Skills:
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw actionable conclusions.
Data Management: An understanding of or interest in data organization, cleansing, and database principles.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external suppliers.
Negotiation & Sourcing Interest: A keen interest in learning about supplier relations, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
Software Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with ERP systems (like Infor LN) or procurement software is a plus, but not required.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough in handling data and preparing documentation.
Problem-Solving: An ability to identify inefficiencies and contribute to solutions within the procurement process.
Proactive & Organized: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and take initiative.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
