Job Title: CNC Operator / Machine Setup Technician
Location: Monoflex- Prairie Du Sac, WI
Job Summary:
Baker Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator to set up and operate CNC machinesprimarily lathesin support of our precision manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality production by interpreting technical drawings, adjusting equipment, and monitoring machine operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining our efficiency, accuracy, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC machines (primarily lathes) in accordance with production requirements
Review setup sheets and specifications to determine machining sequence and required dimensions
Assemble and install cutting tools in tool holders and machine spindles or magazines
Position and secure workpieces using fixtures or setup instructions
Adjust machine settings (speeds, feeds, offsets) as necessary to ensure dimensional accuracy
Monitor CNC machine operations to detect issues such as worn tools or part inconsistencies
Perform in-process inspections and measure finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications
Change cutting tools and re-position workpieces during machining as needed
Document machine activities, production output, and personal attendance data
Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding production status or discrepancies
Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles
Practice safe work habits and wear appropriate PPE at all times
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience in CNC machine operation and setup
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and setup instructions
Familiarity with hand tools and mechanical systems
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and metric conversions
Good verbal communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand for extended periods
Frequent use of hands and arms for operating tools and machinery
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to mechanical equipment, moving parts, and loud noise
Frequent exposure to fumes, dust, and airborne particles
PPE usage required at all times
Climate may vary depending on production area
Additional Requirements:
Ability to obtain a forklift operator certification, if not already certified
Must demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement
6:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday-Thursday 6:00am-10:00am on Fridays. Overtime may be scheduled on Fridays
Compensation details: 23-26 Hourly Wage
