Description * This position is hybrid.

You will have the opportunity to set flexible hours and to work partially remote at the discretion of the Auditor.

All new employees to the Auditor's Office complete a three-month onboarding period fully onsite.

* Candidates selected for phone screening will be notified by 6/27.

Phone screens will take place on 6/30, and panel interviews will take place on 7/2.

Position Summary Why It's a Great Opportunity: In this newly created position, you will oversee the critical administrative functions that ensure the smooth, efficient, and effective operation of the Auditor's Office.

Working closely with managers and supervisors, you will handle day-to-day department-wide functions such as staffing, training, regulatory compliance, facilities, equipment, security, emergency planning, safety, policy development, and internal and external systems and processes.

You will directly supervise the Recording and Licensing Division.

You will serve as a member of the department's Executive Team and will play a key role in department-wide strategic planning, budget development, and change management activities.

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of departmental operations across all service lines and has considerable latitude for problem-solving and decision-making.

Your Future in this Role: Throughout the onboarding process, you will meet with the Executive Team regularly to discuss expectations, set goals, identify priorities, and gain familiarity with current policies, procedures, and strategic measures.

Core Daily Responsibilities: * Plan, organize and coordinate department-wide operations with a cross-functional view, including external partners such as IT, Finance, Facilities, and Security.

* Collaborate with Chief Deputy Auditor to ensure department division operations follow standardized policies, processes and procedures to allow for continuity of service.

* Analyze and evaluate operational processes to develop improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.

* Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of department's budget, with particular attention to public-facing (revenue-generating) services.

* Participate in and support development, measurement and execution of the mission, goals, and objectives of the department, divisions, and individual work groups.

Oversee the department's public records management, electronic records management, electronic data submission, records retention and archiving functions.

* Serve as the department's Human Resources Partner, working with managers and supervisors as they navigate complicated and complex personnel matters.

* Contribute to policy development and long range and strategic planning.

Oversee departmentwide compliance program ensuring consistent interpretation of laws, rules, policies and procedures, licensing requirements and auditing functions at the local, state and federal levels.

* Oversee public-facing services, establishing policy, reviewing operation efficiencies, and developing customer service standards * Effectively manage employees in a represented environment.

* Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours at assigned worksite.

Qualifications * Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis.

* Bachelor's Degree in business administration, human resources or related field.

* Five years of executive managerial and project management experience in a highly complex government setting, including budgetary, personnel, and supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications * Advanced degree * Understanding and knowledge of local government administrative and legislative processes and procedures is highly desirable.

Holidays: Some full-time employees are entitled to eleven paid holidays as follows: New Year's Day - January 1 Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday - Third Monday in January President's Day - Third Monday in February Memorial Day - Last Monday in May Juneteenth - June 19 Independence Day - July 4 Labor Day - First Monday in September Veteran's Day - November 11 Thanksgiving Day - Fourth Thursday in November & Friday after Christmas Day - December 25 Personal Holidays: Regular full-time and regular part-time employees, and employees occupying limited duration positions, shall also receive two additional paid personal holidays.

Paid personal holidays shall only accrue for those employees on County payroll as of January 1 of each year or the first work day following January 1 and must be taken during the calendar year in which it was accrued.

Furlough: Some Pierce County employees may be designated to receive 10 "furlough" days per year in lieu of holidays.

Furlough days are available for use on January 1 and must be scheduled and taken within the calendar year.

Employees who leave employment with Pierce County must reimburse the employer for used furlough days based upon the number of remaining holidays.

Sick Leave: Sick leave accrues on a bi-weekly basis, at the rate of one day per month.

Insurance Benefits: Employees and families are covered by medical (including vision), dental and basic life insurance.

There are multiple medical plans with very affordable monthly premiums that offer coverage throughout Pierce County.

Employees are eligible to enroll each year in a flexible spending plan, which enables them to use tax-deferred dollars toward their health care and dependent care expenses.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation: Pierce County employees are members of the State of Washington's Department of Retirement System (DRS) and depending on the position or previous DRS enrollment will be able to enroll in one of many programs DRS offers.

Employees also have the ability to participate in the Nationwide Deferred Compensation Plan.
