What You'll Do

Are you passionate about Mainframes and z/OS? Do you thrive as a key member of an Empowered Team? Join us as a Staff Systems Design Engineer and play a pivotal role in sustaining stable and reliable Mainframe environments in support of Teradata Product testing and certification.

Install, customize, maintain, and upgrade z/OS including LPARs and commonly used tools and middleware (IBM and 3rd party)

Manage and automate z/OS administration tasks including security (Ex: RACF), health checks, user access and a virtual tape library

Serve as a technical lead on Mainframe projects, integrations, and business continuity readiness

Drive Operational Excellence into environments

Participate in day-to-day operations using Jira (Ex: incidents, problems, changes, service requests)

Participate in off-hours support as needed for critical support / incidents

Participate in periodic off-hour meetings with geographically dispersed team members to ensure success within Engineering Shared Services and related projects

Propose process improvements for R&D operations that result in reduced processing times, simplified architectures, and/or improve quality / security

Elicit requirements from stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Extract data from environments for dashboarding, decision-making and automation

Create and maintain logical diagrams and support documentation

Who You'll Work With

Engineering Shared Services (ESS) enables product innovation, discovery, and accelerated delivery value through automation and by providing developer tooling, environments and data insights & intelligence to our Product Engineering leaders and teams.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

Bachelor's degree in a Technology or related field

Minimum of 5-7 years of z/OS systems programmer experience planning, installing, configuring, customizing, maintaining, and integrating the base elements of the OS including the BCP, JES2, TSO/E, ISPF, z/OS UNIX, SMP/E, z/OSMF, HCD, and/or ICSF

Time management and organizational skills

Adapts to change with workloads, processes, business needs, and company culture

Exhibits a mindset for process improvement and automation that results in customer satisfaction and business value

Drives solutions adoption (From Design to Implementation to User Acceptance)

Demonstrated Technical Qualifications Supporting highly available mainframe systems for a global user community

Automating of z/OS operations

Capacity planning for mainframe hardware and software as well as Business Continuity

Performance tuning mainframes, determining root cause and optimizing resources

Integration-testing

Migrating to newer generation IBM Z processors

Pay Rate: 121900.0000 - 152300.0000 - 182800.0000 Annually

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on geographic location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and candidate experience. Sales roles will be eligible for commission payments tied to quota achievement. All other permanent roles will be eligible for one of our annual incentive plans, which are based on company financial attainment and individual performance.
