POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Custodian provides basic custodial and facility maintenance services to all Medical, Dental, PT, Behavioral Health, and office sites. The Custodian ensures the cleanliness of Tuolumne Me Wuk Indian Health Center's clinics and office sites. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday 4:30PM - 1:30AM.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (will include, but not be limited to)
The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and dust-free environment throughout all clinics. This includes daily cleaning of surfaces, floors, carpets, walls, vents, and other areas. Specific tasks include mopping floors, disinfecting countertops and chairs, and cleaning glass doors, mirrors, door jambs, and walls. Additionally, the Custodian will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of all restrooms, making sure that supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper are consistently stocked.
The Custodian will also identify and report any issues that require maintenance, including broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains, or other conditions, to their lead or supervisor. Collaboration with the Procurement team will be necessary to maintain and replenish maintenance and janitorial supplies, including light bulbs and other necessary items across all clinics and office sites.
On occasion, the Custodian will be required to move heavy items to clean areas that are not accessible on a daily basis. They will be tasked with emptying trash from all clinics and office sites, ensuring proper disposal, and transporting it to the designated waste facility, following TMWIHC's recycling and hazardous/medical waste disposal policies.
In addition, the Custodian will assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas, perform minor repairs to fixtures, buildings, and equipment (such as wall repairs, touch-up painting, and installing shelves), and report the need for further maintenance or repairs to the lead or supervisor. The Custodian will also follow lock-up procedures at each site with dependability and will perform any other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Pattern I: High school diploma or GED
Or
Pattern II: 1-2 years experience in related field
Requirements: Must have CA drivers License
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA Safety Training preferred
Experience working with Native American population in a healthcare setting 2+ years preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time; climbing stairs, step-stools, etc.; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling and lifting up to 30 pounds; raising objects overhead; manual dexterity for operation of computer and phones; hearing, talking, and good verbal and written communication skills; repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers; subject to outside environmental conditions of heat and cold; and walking on uneven ground. The position requires the ability to safely operate and drive a motor vehicle.
