Salary Range: $75,000 – $103,000 (commensurate with experience, education, and certifications)

Job Overview
Are you a detail-oriented database professional with a passion for supporting mission-critical systems? Join our team as a Jr. Database Administrator in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) through the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract in Huntsville, AL.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience managing databases in a highly secure environment while working alongside talented engineers and IT professionals. You’ll help maintain the stability, performance, and security of vital database systems that support our national defense infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level database systems across the MDA network
Apply best practices for database design and administration
Create and maintain standard operating procedures, policies, and documentation
Monitor and fine-tune performance of SQL Server databases
Assist with database backup and disaster recovery strategy implementation
Conduct availability and capacity audits
Support IT and business teams in defining database system requirements
Collaborate with developers, architects, and stakeholders to design and implement database solutions
Research and introduce new technologies into the application lifecycle
Basic Requirements:
2+ years of experience in database design, administration, or automation
Active DoD Secret clearance
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE) or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or higher
Knowledge of SQL Server clustering, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and monitoring
Familiarity with relational database architecture and operations
Experience working with cloud-hosted databases in Azure or AWS environments
