Job Title: Maintenance Machinist
Shift: First Shift – 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Pay Rate: $29.00 – $33.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
The Maintenance Machinist plays a critical role in supporting production by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining machine components in a food manufacturing environment. This position involves operating specialized tools and machinery, diagnosing equipment issues, and working collaboratively with the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations, while strictly adhering to food safety standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining tools to fabricate and repair machine parts.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Cut, shape, and finish materials to precise dimensions and tolerances.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery and equipment.
Manufacture replacement parts to minimize production downtime.
Install new parts or modify existing equipment for improved functionality.
Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
Test equipment performance after repairs or modifications.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety regulations.
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment status.
Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and support urgent repair needs.
Provide technical support to production teams to resolve equipment issues.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Proficient in operating standard machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.)
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing systems
Skilled in reading blueprints and technical documentation
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
GMP & HACCP Compliance
Follow all GMPs at all times (e.g., wearing hairnets, maintaining clean uniforms, etc.)
Comply with all HACCP and food safety protocols
Physical Demands
Frequently required to stand, walk long distances, sit, use hands, talk, and hear
Occasionally required to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Capable of standing or walking unassisted for up to 10 hours
Work Environment
Must be comfortable working in environments ranging from 45 ree;F to 95 ree;F
Exposure to moderate to high noise levels (e.g., machinery, phones, production equipment)
Hearing protection is required while working on the production floor
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical or vocational training in machining or a related field preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of machinist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial settingCompany Description
