Job Title: Certified Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Detroit, MI.
Pay Rate: $29.85/hour
Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Job Summary:
The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for providing sterile instruments, trays, and products to all members of the healthcare team in a timely and accurate manner. This role plays a vital part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical and procedural efficiency by ensuring that all equipment is decontaminated, processed, sterilized, and distributed according to regulatory and hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, clean, disinfect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute medical instruments and surgical trays.
Monitor sterilization equipment and ensure proper operation, documenting sterilization processes and cycles.
Maintain accurate inventory of surgical instruments and medical supplies.
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and signs of wear or damage.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies.
Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
Read and interpret temperature and pressure gauges during sterilization processes.
Maintain compliance with internal protocols, regulatory standards, and certification guidelines.
Required Skills & Experience:
Ability to read, write, perform basic math functions (add, subtract), and interpret temperature/pressure gauges.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict protocols and procedures.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
AND one of the following:
Completion of an Aide Training Program,
Completion of a Central Technician Program,
OR
At least 6 months of previous experience in Central Supply.
Certification/Licensure:
Required: NICHSPDP (National Institute for the Certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel) Certification.
Must maintain active and current certification status.Company Description
