Join Amazon Robotics as we revolutionize warehouse operations with innovative automation systems. We are looking for a passionate and skilled Automation Systems Development Engineer to help design and develop advanced controls for robotics and industrial automation systems. You will lead engineering initiatives within our product development teams and collaborate with both internal and external engineering partners to deliver solutions that serve our global customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and enhance control architecture, including machine control code, networking, electrical design, and safety protocols.
Develop controls code using structured text and ladder logic on Codesys and RSLogix 5000 platforms.
Identify and implement optimizations for automation systems.
Debug and troubleshoot field and internal issues, creating tools and best practices for monitoring and troubleshooting systems.
Mentor and guide junior engineers in design and development best practices.
Contribute to value engineering of electrical and controls hardware components.
Expect approximately 25% travel to support on-site system testing.

Basic Qualifications:
1+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems.
Solid understanding of systems engineering fundamentals including networking, storage, and operating systems.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Siemens PLCs, and/or Soft PLCs/IPCs.
6+ years of experience in electrical control systems.
Familiarity with IEC standards for electrical controls and Functional Safety standards.
Strong debugging skills and problem-solving capabilities.
Commitment to rigorous testing practices and design processes.
Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum.
Knowledge of full software/hardware/network development life cycles.
Experience with Codesys platform and HMI design.
