Description:

Full-time

Description

Software built on the MTConnect standard is deployed on tens of thousands of devices in factories all over the world. Now, the standard is evolving from serving monitoring and status reporting applications to digital twins, flexible automation, and AI-driven factories. 2025-26 is our breakout window, and we need a community champion who can translate the spec into code, content, and vibrant conversation.

Why You’ll Love This Role

· Real impact: You’ll shape the standard that powers tomorrow’s smart factories—alongside industry-leading companies.

· Front-row seat: This role is embedded in the industry. You’ll work directly with tech companies and end users. Within AMT, you will work cross-functionally with AMT’s growth, research, and standards teams.

· Green-field DevRel: Build community programming, tooling, and events from the ground up; your roadmap is the roadmap.

· Breadth + depth: Split time among community building, standards stewardship, and hands-on demos—ideal for multi-talented technologists.

What You'll Do

· Standards Stewardship – Attend SC and Working Group meetings; shepherd spec updates.

· Community Growth & Advocacy – Plan content calendar, meet-ups, and targeted outreach to open-source software & industrial internet of things communities.

· Technical Storytelling – Write blog posts, create short demo videos, and maintain the sample code.

· Event Leadership – Own MTConnect presence at conferences, workshops, and hackathons; budget and vendor wrangling included.

· Partnership Enablement – Serve as technical liaison when marquee partners add MTConnect to their stacks.

Requirements

· Manufacturing-tech savvy plus hands-on coding or automation experience (APIs, OPC UA, MQTT, Unified Namespace, etc.).

· Standards know-how – ideally MTConnect; open to MODBUS/SEMI/OPC or open-source veterans ready to pivot.

· Community chops – you’ve run meetups, Discords, or open-source software roadmaps that drove adoption.

· Top-tier communication – from conference stages to GitHub PR reviews.

Bonus Points:

· Prior standards development or open-source project work.

· Familiarity with data modeling for digital twins or USD.

· Experience choosing community-ops tooling (Discourse, Common Room, Orbit…).

Highlighted Benefits

Full-time AMT employees are eligible to receive the following benefits:

· Medical Dental Vision coverage – 100% of premiums covered for employees and eligible dependents.

· Paid Time Off (PTO) – up to 5 weeks if start date is before July 1. After July 1, receive 2.5 weeks.

· Paid Winter Break and select holidays.

· 401k Plan (100% company match up to 6%, no vesting period).
