We are seeking a skilled Thermal Power Plant Engineer to oversee the design, operation, and optimization of thermal systems within our power generation facility for one of our global clients. The role will be a 6-month contract to start with located in their office in Houston with the potential to extend.

Key Responsibilities

Thermal System Design & Optimization: Develop and implement thermal systems for power plants, including boilers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, and related components. Conduct thermal simulations and analyses to predict system behavior under various operating conditions.

Performance Monitoring & Analysis: Monitor and analyze the thermal performance of power plant systems, including turbines, boilers, heat exchangers, and cooling systems. Develop and validate advanced performance models to assess system efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure machinery is functioning optimally. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Develop and implement policies and procedures for energy production and plant safety.

Project Management: Lead and manage performance improvement projects, including upgrades, modifications, and retrofits, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.

Team Collaboration & Leadership: Collaborate with operations personnel to improve plant performance and reliability. Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and plant staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience in power plant thermal systems, performance analysis, and project management.

Looking for an SME who can oversee Wood (EPC) as the JERA owners rep and oversight, currently in the conceptual design phase, so will need to be experienced with early front end engineering & design (FEED)

Minimum of 7 years of experience in thermal performance engineering within the power generation industry.

Experience with mid frame (solar) and large frame turbines (Siemens & GE)

Prepare detailed engineering reports and evaluate Woods performance

Ideally someone with EPC and owners experience, need to have at least owners experience…EPC is a plus

Familiarity with relevant software and tools for thermal analysis and performance monitoring

Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards
