Position Title: Human Resources Director

Reports To: General Manager

Job Level: Senior Management

Hotel / Location: CPS Events at the Plaza, New York

Strategic Intent

It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will help in the overall day to day operation, and long term outlook of the catering facilities.

Scope of Position

The Human Resources Director contributes to the operational and financial part of the overall operations for Events at The Plaza/CPS5 LLC. He/she assists in overseeing the overall organization, insuring the implementation and consistency of the company standards.

Organizational Structure

The Human Resources Director reports directly to the General Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Support company’s philosophy and culture through the use of Superior World Class Service on a daily basis to ensure the guest satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.

Prepares, recommends, and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data.

Provide leadership and support for all Events at The Plaza/CPS5 LLC staff.

Trains, evaluates and oversees the scheduling of Banquet colleagues in accordance with the standards of the company policies and guidelines.

Administers classification programs, which includes classifying and reclassifying positions, and writing job descriptions.

Coordinate benefit programs.

Responsible for all employee and labor relations.

Monitors performance appraisal programs.

Monitors workers’ compensation claims and coordinates work between employee and insurance carrier.

Responsible for recruitment of all positions, focusing on attracting the most talented individuals within the hospitality industry

Hiring, motivating, directing and disciplining the staff of Events at The Plaza/CPS5 LLC.

Conduct orientation programs.

Process all new employees and all change –of-status forms.

Maintains permanent personnel records.

Provides public information such as verifying employment.

Coordinates grievance panel nominations, hearings, and activities.

Maintains affirmative action plan.

Monitors unemployment claims and assists departments with appeals.

Develop and maintain all training programs on a continual basis to insure a high degree of professionalism within the staff.

Oversee scheduling of all colleagues properly in order to maintain union guidelines electronically.

Attend regular sales meetings to obtain information of the upcoming contracted functions.

Constantly monitor the staff’s appearance, attitude, and degree of professionalism to ensure their strict adherence to standards of quality service.

Take an active role in implementing safety procedures and following up within the departments.

Respond properly in any emergency or safety situation.

Perform other tasks/other duties as assigned by management.

Oversee the preparation of payroll and gratuity reports.

Participate in preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly forecasting.

Participate in annual budgeting.

Participate in preparation of all daily/weekly/monthly financial reports as directed by Management.

Analyse financial data of operations and provide advice to Management regarding the efficiency of the operation.

Supervision of Banquet Coordinator’s Responsibilities

(Including, but not limited to,)

Provide scheduling for F&B Attendants which is done on a daily basis based on the A1 Schedule.

Prepare and track payroll per function including updating daily punches in payroll software and per function diagrams.

Preparation of payroll and gratuity reports daily and based on function diagrams.

Complete function diagrams and instructions for F&B Attendants based on proper rotation and in accordance with A1 Scheduling and staffing guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure overall operational success

Maintain all BEO’s for each function.

Maintain all filing of passed schedules, requested time off, payroll, etc Payroll and schedules must be stored electronically in accordance with Local 6 guidelines.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to Security

Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and colleague safety in fire or other emergency situations

Highly knowledgeable about Schedule A-1 as per Local 6 specifications

Revise standard and procedures for department, as necessary

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure overall operational success.

Requirements

Be a self-motivator and motivator of others.

Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.

Be able to relate to all levels of guests and management.

Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position, preferably in luxury environment

Have excellent communication and organization skills

Be able to consistently delight and satisfy our guest

Have the ability to handle internal and external guest requests in a detailed manner

Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.

Excellent leader and trainer.

Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail

Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 base salary.

(You will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan based on the financial & qualitative goals being achieved for both CPS5 as a whole and your performance specifically)
