Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Controls Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced control systems in our chemical manufacturing operations. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance through the application of modern control strategies, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain process control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) to support chemical production processes.
Lead control system upgrades, migrations, and expansions across multiple units or facilities.
Collaborate with process engineers, operations, and maintenance teams to identify and implement control strategies that improve safety, yield, and efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, including instrumentation failures, logic errors, and communication faults.
Develop and maintain documentation including control narratives, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and functional specifications.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality protocols.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on cross-functional project teams.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies such as APC (Advanced Process Control), IIoT, and data analytics tools.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in process control engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related process industries.
Proficiency with control platforms such as Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Rockwell Automation, Siemens PCS 7, or similar.
Strong understanding of process dynamics, control theory, and instrumentation.
Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISA, IEC 61511).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
Experience with batch control systems (ISA-88), APC, or model predictive control (MPC).
Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices in industrial control systems.
Knowledge of data historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI), analytics platforms, and digital transformation initiatives.
