About the Role:

The Building Envelope Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and performance of building envelopes, which are essential for energy efficiency, weather resistance, and occupant comfort. This position involves conducting thorough inspections of various building components, including roofs, air barriers, walls, facades, windows, and doors, to identify any deficiencies or potential issues. The inspector will be responsible for documenting findings and providing detailed reports that inform construction practices and maintenance strategies. By collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors, the inspector helps to uphold industry standards and regulations. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to enhance the durability and sustainability of buildings, contributing to the overall success of construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in building science, construction management, architecture, or a related field is preferred.

[2] years of experience in building envelope inspection, construction, or a related field.

Knowledge of building codes, standards, blueprint reading and industry best practices, and inspection techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification as a Building Envelope Professional (BEP) or similar credential.

Experience with energy efficiency assessments and sustainable building practices.

Familiarity with building science principles and moisture management.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for reporting.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work at heights, use ladders, and operate aerial lifts as needed.

Relevant certifications (such as RRO, RRC, or Level 1 Thermography) are a plus.

Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed inspections of building envelope systems to assess their condition and compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Prepare comprehensive reports outlining inspection findings, including photographs and recommendations for repairs or improvements.

Collaborate with project teams to provide guidance on best practices for building envelope design and construction

Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies related to building envelope performance.

Identify defects, moisture intrusion, air intrusion, insulation failures, and other issues affecting structural integrity

Utilize tools such as infrared thermography, moisture meters, and borescopes, bubble gun, blower door and other non-destructive testing equipment.

Conduct follow-up inspections to verify the effectiveness of repairs and improvements
