Description
Operate CNC lathes and milling machines – including program setup and running operations. (Mazak, DMG/Mori)
Program complex parts for CNC multi-axis lathes & mills (Use of G-code and/or conversational programming on Mazak lathes & mills)
Develop machine set-ups and program edits, ensuring programs are organized and preserved
Understand geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
Read and interpret 2-D shop prints
Select proper tooling for production and manufacturing
Work with tolerances to +/- .001”
Maintain highest levels of quality – as specified by customer requirements
Inspect parts using a variety of equipment: micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, other as needed
Demonstrate forward thinking to anticipate and avoid problems, and effectively trouble-shoot and resolve any problems that do arise
Work with minimal supervision, but also engage productively within a team environment
Update job paperwork, keeping it accurate and organized
Use electronic Job Tracking system to ensure job status remains accurate and up-to-date
Perform prescribed preventive maintenance on machines as required per M/M schedules
Other duties may be assigned as necessary and appropriate
Extensive knowledge of machining and strong machining skills
5 years’ experience turning and set-up on CNC Lathes/Mills
Medium to high level of experience with tools and inserts
Experience in inspection of machined parts
Trigonometry & Blueprint literacy
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Education/Experience: Five+ years’ progressive experience in a manufacturing machining environment. Experience troubleshooting machining issues with various types of manual and CNC lathes & mills. Experience with high performance alloys (copper/nickel, Inconel, stainless alloys).
Math Ability: Possess basic shop math skills and have the ability to use a variety of hand tools, machine tools and precision measuring instruments.
Reasoning Ability: Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. The ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
