POSITION TITLE: NCSO Special Events Community Coordinator

STATUS: Non-Union

SALARY RANGE: $63,000 - $81,000

HOURS: 40 Hours

SUMMARY:

As the Public Safety Special Events Community Coordinator at the Norfolk County Sheriff Office, you will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between the Sheriff's Office and various constituencies within the community. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing monthly events that cater to diverse groups, including veterans, seniors, public safety agencies, civics groups, schools, and more. Your efforts will contribute to enhancing public safety awareness and engagement while aligning with the sheriff office's core pillars of prevention, intervention, education, and hope.

STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBLITIES:

Event Planning and Coordination: Plan, organize, and coordinate monthly events that align with the sheriff office's commitment to prevention, intervention, education, and hope. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of events that cater to veterans, seniors, civics groups, public safety agencies, schools, and other community segments.

Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships within the community by actively engaging with constituents through event planning, attendance, and participation. Represent the sheriff office at various community meetings, forums, and gatherings to promote understanding and collaboration.

Strategic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to enhance the impact of events and expand the reach of the sheriff office's community initiatives.

Event Marketing and Promotion: Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to promote upcoming events to the targeted constituencies. Utilize various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and community platforms, to raise awareness and generate interest.

Resource Management: Manage budgets, resources, and logistics required for event planning and execution. Ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize the impact of events while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Feedback and Assessment: Collect feedback from event attendees and community members to continuously improve the quality and relevance of events. Analyze data and feedback to make informed decisions and adjustments for future events.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of event planning, coordination, attendance, and outcomes. Prepare regular reports for department leadership, highlighting the success and impact of community engagement efforts.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all events comply with relevant regulations, permits, and safety guidelines. Collaborate with relevant departments to address any security or safety concerns.

The Sheriff of Norfolk County reserves the right to add or delete from these responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Community Relations, Public Administration, Event Management) or equivalent experience.

Proven experience in event planning and community engagement, with a track record of successfully executing diverse and impactful events.

Strong understanding of the principles of prevention, intervention, education, and hope within the context of public safety.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of community members and stakeholders.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms, including social media, to promote events and engage with the community.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.

Knowledge of local community dynamics, interests, and cultural sensitivities.

JOB ENVIRONMENT:

The NCSO Special Events Community Coordinator primarily works within the sheriff office's community engagement team, collaborating closely with internal departments, local organizations, and community members. The role may require occasional travel within the local area to attend meetings and events. The coordinator will report to the Director of Community Engagement.

HOURS:

40 hours per week. Flexible schedule, and possible weekend hours. Specific schedule will reflect the needs of the department.
