SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for all electrical design & engineering within the shipyard.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensure that all safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
Lead the efforts of the Electrical Design Department in providing technical support to the shipyard's Project Engineering, Construction Engineering, Outfitting Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Project Planning, Quality, and Production Departments
Manage the basic, detail, and production design process for all systems, materials, and equipment in the electrical discipline
Manage the Electrical Engineering Department staff of engineers, designers, and interns
Manage engineering resources and capabilities to suit shipyard needs
Manage the design partner to ensure the department's engineering tasks are completed within the project schedule, mobilizing all internal capabilities to successfully deliver the project.
Set and maintain department budgets and generate quarterly forecasts for overhead and active projects
Review and approve technical documents such as drawings, calculations, test procedures, specifications, scopes of work, and design change notices
Manage owner plan review and ensure compliance with technical requirements
Manage regulatory plan approval and compliance
Support business development responsibilities include evaluating new project feasibility and generating technical scopes of work, cost estimates, and man-hour estimates for bid proposals
Perform duties of an Electrical Engineer including basic and production design such as specifications, calculations, and drawings relevant to assigned systems or areas of the vessel
Coordinate/assist manufacturing, building, installation, or testing of assigned systems, equipment, and/or areas of the vessel
Propose technical improvements; propose, develop and implement quality standards applicable to own systems and areas of the vessel
Interface with Owner and Class to resolve technical issues
Maintain working knowledge and monitor development of classification and regulatory rules and requirements pertaining to own systems and ship zone responsibilities
Cost reduction efforts through optimal design.
Continuous efforts and research for work efficiency improvement.

Manage a staff of direct and subcontracted engineers and designers in the Electrical Engineering Department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering and 5 years' experience in electrical engineering field preferred or practical experience at a shipyard or in a marine consulting firm for a minimum of 10 years
Experience leading teams and managing projects
Proficiency with MS Office and CAD systems such as AutoCAD
Knowledge/experience concerning basic and detail ship design
Knowledge/experience concerning modern shipbuilding practices
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera is a plus
Experience with 3D modeling software such as Tribon or Aveva Marine 12 is a plus
International experience and familiarity with European and Asian Shipbuilding Standards is a plus
