The Goal

You will be responsible gathering and reviewing requirements from business analysts, business owners and product managers. Able to evaluate the business and architectural requirements, and constraints, within the context of OpenBet’s business and architectural roadmap, you will write stories and technical documentation from which the development team will produce code.

Skilled at communicating at both the business and technical level, you will ensure all the business requirements are met and document the approach and the estimate for work. You will be responsible for designing database schema and API/web service interfaces and acting as a technical authority. Coming from a strong technical background you will be able to interpret existing functions directly from code, while also being able to see the bigger picture.

Responsibilities

● Working with customers and/or product managers to extract requirements and agree the designs

● Design solutions that are modular, scalable and portable

● Evaluate business requirements vs technical, architectural and resource constraints and propose appropriate solutions

● Maintain a thorough and up to date understanding of the company’s business and technical architecture goals and apply them to the specification of products and projects

● Estimate effort required to deliver the solution, providing justification for the estimates

● Identify technical deliverables, risks and impact for the chosen solution

● Be able to split solutions into appropriate stories consistent with the Team’s standards.

● Understanding and using multiple diagramming and documentation tools in order to explain solutions in an effective manner.

The Player

● Demonstrated analytical ability having been responsible for creating complex technical specifications

● Ideally 3 years’ experience in a senior analytical role, with exposure to web applications and RDBMS.

● A strong understanding of architecture and the ability to read code

● Good interpersonal skills

● Good written and oral communication skills

● Highly motivated and independent

The candidate should also have a few of these at least

● Agile development (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban)

● Programming experience within large-volume transactional systems

● Betting software development or business processes

● Experience with relational databases & SQL

● Experience of Web Services and Microservices

● Knowledge of XML, XSD and DTD

● Experience of messaging architectures (e.g. Kafka, JMS, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)

● Experience of API design and documentation (e.g. SOAP, REST, Swagger)

● Experience of Behaviour and/or Domain Driven Design
