Network Technician (NOC) – Huntsville, AL
Location: NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), Huntsville, AL
Schedule: Full-time, rotating shifts (24/7 coverage required)
Clearance: Active Public Trust Clearance Required – US Citizenship Required
Onsite Only – No remote/hybrid options
Annual Salary: $64,000 – $65,500
Additional Compensation: $4.93/hour in lieu of health benefits (added to salary)

About the Role:
Are you ready to play a vital role in supporting one of the most critical networks in the country? We’re expanding our Network Systems Support team at NASA MSFC, where you’ll ensure the secure, reliable flow of mission-critical data for space and aeronautical operations.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role ideal for candidates with network operations experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and Maintain NASA’s Mission Network: Use standard tools and NASA-specific systems to monitor network health and resolve issues.
Network Support: Provide Tier-1/Tier-2 support for routers, switches, and telecom equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena).
Incident Response: Respond to network incidents, troubleshoot dataflow issues, and coordinate real-time resolutions with NASA centers.
Equipment Operations: Support NASA-unique hardware and assist with the implementation of new services.
24/7 Rotating Shifts: Work in a rotating shift environment at the Mission Alternate Operating Facility (MAOF) to maintain continuous network availability.
Documentation & Collaboration: Document issues and work closely with internal and external technical teams to resolve network challenges.
Qualifications:
Required:
Active Public Trust Clearance (Required)
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, WAN connectivity
Hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper network gear and tools (e.g., traceroute, ping, SNMP)
Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure in real-time operational settings
Willingness to work non-standard shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., NNMi, MRTG, CACTI)
Preferred:
Experience with SONET, MPLS, OC-3/48, T1/T3 links
Knowledge of serial interfaces (RS232, RS449, V.35) and Linux systems
Experience with telecom providers (e.g., Verizon, AT&T)
Experience using network analyzers and packet capture tools
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA (or equivalent training)
