Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, mature, and independent professional to lead our Virtual Mentoring Program (VMP)—a college persistence initiative designed to support College Bound alumni through degree completion. The VMP Coordinator plays a pivotal role in helping students navigate the college experience by connecting them with resources, mentors, and individualized guidance throughout their higher education journey.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all operations of the Virtual Mentoring Program

Match College Bound alumni with virtual, college-educated mentors

Serve as the primary point of contact for students and mentors, handling all communications and inquiries

Build and sustain a vibrant virtual community that fosters connection, support, and accountability

Connect students to on- and off-campus resources (e.g., mental health services, tutoring, internships, scholarships, financial aid, study abroad opportunities)

Plan and host virtual workshops, events, and socials to maintain engagement and support

Visit alumni at their college campuses to provide in-person guidance and support

Collect, track, and analyze data on student success, retention, and program impact

Train, recruit, and support volunteer mentors

Monitor and manage scholarship disbursements to ensure timely, accurate distribution

Develop and implement a curriculum focused on college success and life skills

Serve as a mentor, advocate, and advisor to students as they navigate the transition to and through college

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required (preferred fields: education, social sciences, political science)

2–3 years of experience working with youth; experience with college-aged students is a plus

Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal oversight

Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills

Deep understanding of higher education systems and college access/persistence barriers

Experience managing volunteers and planning programming or events

Strong data tracking, reporting, and analysis skills

Comfort with social media, virtual platforms, and digital engagement

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to college campuses as needed is required
