Job Overview:

A Ceramic Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of ceramic equipment, machinery, and tools used in industries such as ceramics manufacturing and tile production. In this position, you will typically work in environments where ceramic products are produced or processed, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely.

This role is critical to the smooth operation of ceramic manufacturing plants and requires both technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure that production processes run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance of Machinery: Regular inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of ceramic processing equipment such as kilns, glazing machines, grinders, and clay mixers.

Repairs: Diagnosing issues with machinery and performing repairs or replacing damaged parts to minimize downtime.

Calibration and Adjustment: Ensuring that machines are calibrated correctly for optimal performance and product quality.

Repairs and Troubleshooting:

Quickly identifying and resolving mechanical or electrical problems to keep production running smoothly.

Respond promptly to breakdowns, evaluate the cause, and take appropriate actions to repair or replace faulty parts.

Replace defective parts, motors, bearings, and other machine components.

Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and ensure that machines are back in operation quickly.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, ensuring all maintenance work is conducted safely.

Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Ensure all repairs and installations meet safety and regulatory standards.

Collaboration:

Work closely with production supervisors and quality control teams to optimize machine performance.

Work with external Contractors and Vendors for more complex repairs or specialized services.

Communicate effectively with team members regarding equipment status and required repairs.

Inventory Management:

Maintain an inventory of commonly used spare parts, tools, and equipment.

Order and replenish supplies as necessary to minimize delays in repairs.

Other Duties:

Assist in the installation of new machinery and equipment.

Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

Provide training to operators on basic troubleshooting and machine maintenance.

Keep updated on new technologies and techniques to improve maintenance practices.

Skills:

Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ceramic production machinery and equipment.

Mechanical and Electrical Skills: Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues.

Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions efficiently.

Attention to Detail: Precision in calibrating machinery and performing repairs.

Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety standards and following strict safety procedures.

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Knowledge

Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, operate a scissor lift at extended heights, and work in industrial environments with high temperatures.

Willingness to work various shifts as assigned and on weekends with the potential of being on-call for emergencies (depending on position).

Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Specialist will work in an industrial environment with varying temperatures.

The position may involve exposure to machinery and chemicals.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and masks may be required.

The position may involve working in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance.

Previous relevant experience in the Ceramic Industry is highly preferred.
