Job Summary:Responsible for leadership and supervision of sterile processing daily operations including decontamination, sterilization, tray set up, case cart processing, and timely delivery of trays, equipment, and supplies. Responsible for ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and coordination of sterile processing activities. Ensures availability of sterile supplies, instrumentation, and trays to support patient care needs in various clinical departments.

Job Description:
Operations Management
Collaborates with personnel of various departments to ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
Ensures adequate staffing to meet the needs of sterile processing.
Completes performance appraisals and counseling/disciplinary action as needed.
Assists with establishing, implementing, and evaluating departmental goals consistent with organizational mission, vision, values, and strategic plans.
Functions as a resource/mentor for staff.
Performs sterile processing functions as needed.
Quality/Customer Service
Monitors and evaluates quality of services. Identifies areas for improvement and develops action plans to positively impact patient outcomes.
Monitors sterilization processes and documentation to ensure adherence to infection control practices.
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and collaborative relationships with interdepartmental/intradepartmental staff, physicians, and other health care team members.
Respects the patient’s ethnic origin, spiritual beliefs and the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality.
Financial Accountability
Supports Assistant Director in meeting organization/department financial goals and maintaining budget within established targets.
Demonstrates fiscal accountability by cost-effective utilization of equipment and supplies.
Professionalism
Demonstrates professionalism and leadership skills when coordinating/delegating sterile processing functions.
Collaborates with Perioperative Institute personnel as needed regarding educational needs of staff related to sterile processing, new instrumentation, supplies and equipment.
Ensures on-going personal growth and development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
High School graduate.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Specialized Knowledge:
Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization procedures, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge of sterilization, asepsis, and infection control practices related to surgical instrumentation and surgical procedures.
Knowledgeable of Joint Commission, AORN (Association of Peri-Operative Nurses) and AAMI (Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) standards.
Basic knowledge of budgeting concepts.
Kind and Length of Experience:
3 years sterile processing experience including experience with case cart system.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships.
