A manufacturing company is seeking a Tool Maker to perform a variety of tool manufacturing, rebuilding, and repair work of basic to complex tools and fixtures according to blueprint, written or verbal specifications. You will work second shift from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Job Duties:
Possess detailed knowledge of all tool room machines and perform complete machine setups
Manufacture tools and fixtures for other manufacturing departments and parts for machine repair as required
Work closely with other tool makers in an effort to learn the methods and technical aspects of tool making for heading and threading operations and provide leadership to other team members
Accurately read blueprints and utilize micrometers, calipers, and tool room support gauging and equipment
Perform preventive maintenance on tool room equipment and maintain machine tools and equipment in a safe operating condition and is always mindful of potential safety hazards
Procure parts, equipment, and services from vendors and process necessary paperwork for purchasing of components
Maintain work area and machines in a clean and orderly fashion and dispose of waste material in and around work area
Assist engineering with new job development and bill of material updates
Assist operators with tooling problems, work with Tool Room Attendant and engineering to resolve problems, and continuous improvement projects
Perform tool inspection and layout to ensure that tools meet specifications
Follow all general safety rules, procedures, and regulations
Perform other duties as required
Job Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
Must have at least 3 yearsâ tool and die experience or technical training
Must have a mechanical aptitude and be able to reworks and build new dies
Must be trained on and become familiar with ISO9001/IATF16949/ISO14001 processes and work instructions relative to the tooling department
Knowledge and utilization of proper lifting techniques and lock out/tag out procedure is required
Must understand their Environmental Policy, Environmental Aspects, their contribution to the Environmental Management System, and the implications of not conforming to our Environmental Management System
Must understand the company's Quality Policy, relevant quality objectives, their contribution to our Quality Management System, and the implications of not conforming to our Quality Management System
Must have the ability to maintain work area and machines in a clean and orderly fashion and dispose of waste material in and around work area
Must be able to lift and transfer a variety of materials weighing up to 40 pounds
Must be able to follow all general safety rules, procedures, and regulations
Must have a solid work history with no attendance issues
