POSITION SUMMARY

Tolerance Masters Inc is a precision machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machined parts and sub-assemblies.

We are seeking a Honing and Lapping Specialist to join our team. The Honing and Lapping Specialist plays a critical role in achieving the exceptional precision and surface finish required for components produced at Tolerance Masters. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining honing and lapping equipment to meet stringent quality and dimensional specifications, ensuring parts meet or exceed customer and industry standards.

HOURS

Monday-Thursday: 6:00 AM-4:30 PM

Friday: Opportunity for overtime

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate and set up honing and lapping machines to process components to precise tolerances

Inspect and measure finished parts using precision tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, and surface finish testers to ensure compliance with specifications

Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, drawings, and work instructions

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of honing and lapping equipment to ensure optimal performance

Collaborate with quality assurance and engineering teams to address non-conformances and implement process improvements

Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company safety protocols and procedures

Record process data and complete required documentation accurately

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

Proven experience in honing and lapping positions, preferably in a precision CNC machining environment

Strong understanding of machining principles and familiarity with material properties

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools and instruments

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS

Knowledge of CNC machining and programming fundamentals

Experience in aerospace, defense, or other industries requiring high-precision components

Familiarity with ISO and AS9100 quality systems

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment; moderate to high levels of dirt, noise, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, fumes, chemicals/solvents and electrical hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. is to be worn as applicable throughout the entire shift.
