Job Description
Kite seeks a highly motivated Project Manager - Budgets to work at our Oceanside viral vector manufacturing site (MVP01). This role involves collaboration with Project Managers, the Head of Business Strategy & Operations, and various departments such as Supply Chain, MSAT, Automation, F&E, Manufacturing, and Finance. The position reports to the Associate Director of Business Strategy & Operations.
The Business Strategy & Operations department supports the site through Project, Resource, and Portfolio Management, Operational Excellence, Business Continuity, Risk Management, and more. As part of this team, you will contribute your expertise as a Project Controls Analyst and support site growth.
This role is crucial for managing the financial health and budget of the MVP01 project portfolio, including CapEx & OpEx, typically ranging from $50K to $10M. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, accruals, and asset capitalization, providing governance and monthly reports to senior management in line with FP&A policies.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control project budgets through standardized tracking
Review project financials for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Collaborate with project managers on funding requests, forecasting, and asset capitalization
Ensure consistent project financial reporting
Analyze cost and schedule variances; develop recovery plans
Provide timely cost management reports to senior management
Improve project delivery practices and implement standard methodologies
Review project data and progress reports
Communicate with vendors, engineers, and team members on financial processes
Generate financial status reports and dashboards
Manage work orders, change orders, and purchase requests
Serve as liaison between business functions and FP&A for project financials
Resolve discrepancies and support decision-making
Drive process improvements and foster collaboration within Kite
Act as primary contact for project controls at the site
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in portfolio management (pharma/biotech experience a plus)
Masters degree with 4+ years of relevant experience
High school diploma with 11+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in pharma/biotech or cell therapy manufacturing
Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Self-motivated, organized, results-oriented, detail-oriented
Certifications such as CAPM, PMP, or OE experience
