Job Description
We're seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Part-Time Accountant to support our finance team during a critical growth phase.
What You'll Do
Month-End Close & Reporting
Assist with June close and prepare monthly financials
Reconcile general ledger, prepare journal entries, expense accruals, and account reconciliations.
Project-Based Accounting & Job Costing
Set up and maintain project-specific cost structures and cost centers.
Track direct and indirect costs (labor, materials, subcontractors), analyze variances, and report profitability per job
Monitor budget-to-actual performance, investigate overruns, and support project forecasting.
Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination
Process subcontractor invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts and timely payments.
Manage subcontract documentation (invoices, insurance, lien waivers).
Collaborate with project managers to issue POs, change orders, and track sub-payments.
Billing & Revenue Recognition
Support pre-billing and monthly invoicing tied to project milestones.
Assist with progress billing and invoicing to ensure accurate job billing schedules
Systems & Controls
Learn and maintain our accounting systems, primarily Procas.
Develop spreadsheet templates and automated workflows to enhance project financial tracking.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
2+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience in a project based or job costing environment
Solid understanding of job costing, budget tracking, variance analysis, and subcontract accounting
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and ability to adapt quickly to new systems
Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong communication skills
Ability to thrive in a small, dynamic team environment and wear multiple hats
Preferred:
Experience with Procas or comparable government contract accounting systems
Background in telecom, infrastructure, construction, or engineering accounting
Basic knowledge of GAAP, progress billing, retainage, and contract compliance
