IT Desktop Support Technician
· The pay is 20.00 to 29.00 an hour
· Monday thru Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
· The job location Houston, Texas 77081
Desktop Support Tech provides desktop and server administration support to the Houston, Cy-fair, Conroe, Texas City, Richmond, Liberty, Beaumont, Colorado and Florida offices. The Desktop support Tech plays an important role in assisting firm employees with troubleshooting problems with computers and software.
1. Provide prompt and professional technical support to end users
2. Set up new employees – Computer, access cards, phone, applications, etc.
3. Troubleshoot and diagnose technical and connection issues related to desktops and
peripherals
4. Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot desktop operating system and applications
5. Maintain and manage desktops and laptops – Wipe, refresh, re-image
6. Maintain and manage network printer fleet – Troubleshoot, escalate to vendor
7. Resolve basic issues with all LGBS mission-critical applications
8. Advise on software or hardware upgrades
9. Troubleshoot basic voice and connectivity issues with phones and related software
10. Ensure the firm’s IT security posture is maintained at all times
11. Maintain excellent documentation on IT processes and procedures
12. Crosstrain on mailroom application and act as backup for mail processing
13. Act as backup for routine mailroom runs
14. Work on other IT related projects
15. All other duties assigned by supervisor and manager
The ideal candidate should possess the qualities below:
· 1-3 years of desktop support experience (strongly preferred)
· CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications (a plus)
· Thorough familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and the Office/O365 suite
· Advanced troubleshooting skills across:
· Desktop and laptop computers, servers, and network hardware
· Software and OS issues
· Printers, print servers, and peripherals
· VPN connectivity and network access
· Experience with antivirus monitoring and remediation tools
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
· Able to work independently, manage priorities, and follow through without constant supervision
· Collaborative and solutions-oriented; comfortable working in a team environment
· Eager to learn and grow—especially in areas like scripting, network automation, and basic database work
Bonus skills (not required, but a major plus):
Experience automating tasks with Python, PowerShell, or another programming language
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server)
Comfortable with learning new tools and technologies as part of day-to-day support and project work
**This position will require driving once the temp period is completed. We will need:
1. Valid Driver’s License
2. Proof of insurance on personal vehicles that they may be driving for work
3. MVR Background check, employees must have a CLEAN DRIVING RECORD
4. When the candidate begins driving, they will be added to the random drug testing pool due to driving a company vehicle or own vehicle for work purposes.
