Kingsland Public Schools is accepting applications for a Building and Grounds Director.

Description

The Buildings and Grounds Director is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the school district’s physical facilities, including buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. They play a crucial role in ensuring that these assets are well-maintained and meet all safety and regulatory standards. The Buildings and Grounds Director also manages a team of maintenance and custodial staff and coordinates with external contractors to carry out necessary repairs and upgrades. This position requires strong organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage the operations and ensure the optimal functioning of the district's physical infrastructure.

Job Duties

Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance and repair program for all buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.

Oversee the day-to-day maintenance activities, ensuring that all work is performed efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Oversee daily cleaning schedules and routines, ensuring that school district facilities are clean, comfortable, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs, renovations, and construction projects, ensuring timely completion and quality workmanship.

Manage the maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective utilization of resources.

Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards.

Develop and implement policies and procedures for the safe and efficient use of school district facilities.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and equipment inventories.

Supervise and train maintenance and custodial staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development and adherence to established protocols.

Collaborate with other departments to identify and address facility-related needs and support their operational requirements.

Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulations related to building maintenance and safety.

Required Skills

Strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead a team of maintenance staff.

Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and tasks.

In-depth knowledge of building maintenance practices, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs.

Familiarity with safety codes and regulations, as well as experience implementing and enforcing safety protocols.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address maintenance issues and emergencies promptly and effectively.

Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, contractors, and other stakeholders clearly and professionally.

Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software for managing maintenance operations.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required and extensive experience in building maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Associates or Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, or a related field a plus.

Certification in building maintenance or related field (e.g., Certified Facility Manager) is a plus.

1-3 years facilities management, preferably in a leadership role.

Licensure

Prefered candidates will possess or be willing to work towards obtaining a Boilers License.

Valid driver's license. (Required)

Finalists will be subject to a successful criminal background check.

Contract length: Year-round/12 months

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000, depending upon previous experience and education.
