Job Summary:

The VP of Operations is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all manufacturing and/or printing activities. This role ensures that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and cost-effectively while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, implement lean manufacturing principles, and support the strategic growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Strategy & Execution:

Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals.

Oversee day-to-day manufacturing or printing operations across multiple facilities.

Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, or other methodologies.

Scale company via data driven applications to accomplish start-up growth type goals.

Leadership & Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop production managers, production supervisors, and other operational staff.

Foster a performance-driven culture with clear KPIs and accountability.

Manage and provide daily guidance to employees, fostering a culture of excellence and professional growth.

Recruit, train, and motivate new personnel, emphasizing exceptional craftsmanship and safety standards. Oversee and participate in the implementation of training programs for employees, encompassing OSHA standards.

Production & Quality:

Ensure on-time delivery, product quality, and adherence to safety standards.

Collaborate with quality assurance teams to resolve production issues and maintain certifications.

Scale production to meet peaks and valleys of cyclical sales volume.

Strategically schedule work and allocate the workforce to optimize efficiency and control expenses.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

Prepare and manage budgets for operations, including labor, equipment, materials, and overhead.

Demonstrate proficiency in understanding annual budget, and monthly projections, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines. Review P+L statements with department managers to uphold best practices.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource allocation.

Supply Chain & Inventory:

Work with supply chain and procurement teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, organization, and vendor relationships.

Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.

Collaborate with the procurement team to purchase and inventory all stock items, including tools, building materials, and cleaning supplies, while adhering to budget constraints.

Technology & Equipment:

Oversee the maintenance and modernization of production equipment and printing technology.

Evaluate and implement new manufacturing or printing technologies to improve efficiency.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).

Promote and enforce a culture of workplace safety.

Customer & Stakeholder Collaboration:

Collaborate with sales, engineering, and customer service teams to meet client expectations.

Represent operations during client audits and high-level meetings.

Foster strong client relationships through proactive communication and the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Work closely with project managers department to oversee and manage all job requirements, ensuring their successful execution.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field.

10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing or printing operations, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.

Extensive knowledge of digital print operations, print automation strategies, and scaling print operations.

Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Proven track record of driving operational excellence and cost efficiency.

Experience with ERP systems, production planning tools, and quality management systems.

Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and clarity.

Highly organized, with acute attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with urgency and adaptability.

Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities, ensuring effective resolution of challenges.

Technologically adept, with a strong command of current software programs relevant to the role.

Preferred Skills & Traits:

Experience in high-speed, high-volume printing environments

Enabled business growth from $15M to $50M through operational leadership, process optimization, cross-functional coordination, including acquisitions.

Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or other relevant industry certifications.

Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactical plans.

Strong analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making approach.

Work Environment:

Office and production-floor environments; occasional travel to onsite locations or client sites may be required.

Must be comfortable in both strategic planning meetings and hands-on production walkthroughs.
