Position Overview:
The Charge RN plays a crucial leadership role in the Emergency Room during day shifts.
Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff throughout the assigned shift.
Determine staffing levels and assignments based on availability, skills, patient census, acuity, and workflow.
Provide direct patient care as necessary.
Assist staff with problem-solving as needed.
May assume patient assignments to address staffing needs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues impacting desired outcomes.
Manage patient care-related complaints through established protocols.
Perform role-specific duties including entering orders, handling admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
Ensure staff have the necessary equipment and supplies to deliver safe, quality patient care.
Incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical operations and protocols, fostering a culture of professional growth.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's degree required
BSN degree preferred
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire
Licensure:
Registered Nurse licensed in Kentucky
Specialty certification preferred
