Job Title: Engineering Manager – Critical Environments

Location: Croydon or Heathrow Data Centre

Sector: Data Centre / Critical Infrastructure

Salary: £67k

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a leading team in the critical environments sector. Based at either the Croydon or Heathrow Data Centre, you will play a key leadership role in the operational delivery of building services systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and lead a dedicated shift team to deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive works.

Act as an Authorised Person for the safe operation of Low and High Voltage equipment.

Ensure robust Health & Safety and QA documentation is maintained and up to date.

Supervise sub-contracted works, ensuring performance aligns with site requirements and permits are in place.

Provide shift cover and manage shift scheduling, including annual leave planning.

Promote safe working practices through the use of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

Manage spare parts and equipment to ensure operational readiness for installations or modifications.

Maintain positive relationships with the client and on-site teams, ensuring professional representation at all times.

Monitor compliance against contractual SLAs and KPIs.

Ensure maintenance systems (e.g., CAFM platforms) are kept accurate and up to date.

Prepare and present reports, proposals, and operational documentation as required.

Implement and uphold standards, procedures, and policies across the engineering function.

Requirements:

Proven experience in managing technical operations within a data centre or critical environment.

HV qualification and ability to obtain or currently hold Authorised Person (AP) status.

Strong leadership and people management skills with experience overseeing shift-based operations.

Solid understanding of Health & Safety compliance, risk management, and quality assurance.

Financial awareness and experience in managing budgets.

Excellent communication skills and ability to foster strong stakeholder relationships.
