Industrial Inspection & Analysis has a rare opportunity in our A2LA accredited ISO17025 Metrology Lab in Minnetonka, MN for a Senior Metrologist / CMM Programmer to join our team. POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Metrologist performs highly technical dimensional inspection of complex manufactured components using CMM’s, Vision CMMs, Laser Scanners, and other typical inspection tools and prepares accurate inspection records for delivery to the customer in a timely and thorough fashion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs inspections on customer-supplied products, using a variety of equipment, including touch probe CMMs, optical CMMs, laser scanners, and hand tools
Perform First Article Inspections, Capability Studies, and Gage R&R studies
Creates and modifies programs for CMM and Optical CMM based on interpretation of complex drawings. CMM Programming including online and offline programming
Problem solve CMM program issues
Develops and implements continuous improvement solutions
Completes and maintains all necessary documentation with a goal for 100% accuracy
Train entry level employees with metrology basics
Performs intermediate checks of equipment to confirm calibration before use
Works with others to perform verification checks on failures
Maintains clean working environment in Lab and Facility
Interacts with customers as needed to ensure customers stated and unstated needs are met fully.
Performs source inspections and customer on-site inspections as assigned, providing story-worthy results
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Must be a U.S. Citizen
3+ years of experience in manufacturing which may include machining, injection molding, or mechanical assembly preferred
5+ years of experience with precision inspection using touch or vision CMMs strongly preferred.
5+ years of PC-DMIS programming experience. The ideal candidate should be familiar with looping, variables, scanning, data output, point clouds.
Experience with Hexagon PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, OGP Zone 3, Measuremind, SmartProfile, Solidworks preferred.
Ability to read and understand complex GD&T on blueprints using ASME Y14.5 and ISO standards.
ASME GDTP Senior Certification preferred.
AUKOM Certification preferred.
ASQ CQI, CQT, CQE, Certification preferred.
Demonstrated outstanding character in the workplace.
Strong written and interpersonal skills required.
Experience working independently under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally and sit for long periods of time.
