Job Description

The Packaging Engineer will play a critical role in developing, optimizing, and implementing packaging solutions for products coming off press, with a strong focus on automation and efficiency. This is a hands-on, solutions-based position that offers a unique opportunity to take full ownership of the packaging process. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, innovative, and driven to continuously improve packaging operations, especially in foil pouch and blister pack environments.

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•Develop and implement automated packaging solutions for products coming directly off press.

•Design and optimize foil pouch and blister packaging processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and cost efficiency.

•Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to integrate packaging processes into production workflows.

•Lead validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new packaging equipment and processes.

•Utilize Lean Six Sigma and root cause analysis tools to solve packaging-related production issues and drive continuous improvement.

•Identify and evaluate packaging materials and suppliers for compatibility and cost-effectiveness.

•Create and maintain detailed documentation for packaging processes, equipment specifications, and work instructions.

•Actively participate in manufacturing transfer activities, ensuring seamless implementation of packaging during scale-up.

•Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (ISO13485, GMP, FDA).

Accountabilities:

•Accountable for delivering cost-effective, reliable packaging processes.

•Accountable for maintaining packaging process uptime and minimizing defects.

•Accountable for delivering validated packaging solutions on time and within budget.

•Accountable for contributing to company-wide Safety, Quality, and On-Time Delivery goals.

Training/Education/Experience:

•Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field or 4–10 years of experience in packaging engineering within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device experience preferred).

•Proven experience with foil pouch and blister pack packaging processes and equipment.

•Experience with automated packaging systems and equipment integration.

•Familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ validations and regulatory standards (ISO13485, GMP, FDA).

•Experience applying Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies (Green or Black Belt preferred).

•Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.

Evidence of Success:

•Proven history of developing and implementing packaging automation solutions that improved efficiency and reduced cost or defects.

•Demonstrated ownership and leadership of packaging process development, including successful validation and launch.

Benefits:Health care insurance benefits available first of the month following 60 days of employment. Thirty (30) hours worked per week must be averaged in order to maintain coverage. 401k enrollment is available per the Secure Act guidelines.
