ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is a private, not-for-profit organization established in 1952 to provide a uniform date of appointment to positions in graduate medical education (GME) in the United States. The NRMP is not an application processing service; rather, it provides an impartial venue for matching applicants and programs preferences for each other consistently. The NRMP conducts the annual Main Residency Match encompassing 40,000 applicants for more than 25,000 positions in core residencies as well as Matches for fellowship positions in 55 subspecialties through its Specialties Matching Service.

POSITION SUMMARY

The NRMP is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst. This is an exciting role to help modernize NRMPs data and analytics initiatives and processes and will provide strategic, analytical, and technical support for business intelligence activities. In addition to preparation of reports and the creation of datasets for research initiatives and analyses, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be engaged in fulfilling data requests from external constituents in addition to fulfilling data and presentation needs for executives, senior leadership, and the NRMP Board of Directors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements for new dashboards, metrics, and reports.

Designs, develops, and maintains data models, reports, and analytical dashboards.

Ensures data integrity by validating data utilized in reports and in dashboards for accuracy and completeness.

Communicates with stakeholders to understand the intent of requests, performs follow-ups, and provides regular status updates, sharing known limitations of data and/or dashboards, facilitating understanding of, and confidence in, the information presented.

Supports internal research teams and data publications.

Supports executives with data presentations.

Participates in handling incoming requests from internal and external constituents.

Provides ongoing support and monitoring, and performs refinement of reports and analytics team offerings.

Translates data results into written reports, tables, graphs, and charts to convey information to management.

Creates written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations.

Creates ad hoc reports and views frequently to assist management in understanding, researching, and analyzing issues.

Teaches and advocates the use of business intelligence tools across levels of the organization.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

5+ years of work experience in analytics/reporting roles building data visualizations.

5+ years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of departmental and/or multi-departmental data analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.

A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science, or related subject matter.

Familiarity with undergraduate and graduate medical education and the residency selection process is highly desirable.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship or restriction.

Resides in the United States and ability to work remotely with occasional overnight travel.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Strong experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and/or other programming tools & languages to lead data analyses of high complexity across multiple data structures.

Advanced knowledge of database technologies and data warehouse philosophies.

Advanced experience with Tableau or native AWS business intelligence platforms. Comfortable with Microsoft Office suite.

Expertise in AWS services, including AWS cloud technologies, AWS open-source technologies, and industry best practices.

Adept in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps principles leveraging Atlassian tool suite.

Ability to make inferences and observations about data and transform them into insights.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with Python is a plus.

INTERACTIONS

Internal:

Daily contact with NRMP staff.

Occasional interaction with members of the Board of Directors.

External:

Interaction with stakeholders to process data requests.

Interaction with third-party software and IT vendors.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

This position is primarily remote and sedentary with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. There may be occasional overnight travel for staff events.
