Controls Technician
We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer – Controls Technician to join our client’s team in supporting and maintaining OT/ICS infrastructure across North American manufacturing facilities. This is a direct-hire, remote position offering flexible hours, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to lead advanced automation and cybersecurity initiatives. Travel up to 60% is required.
What You’ll Do
Support OT networks and industrial control systems across multiple North American plants
Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens PCS7, WinCC, Simatic Batch, Route Control, and Rockwell PLC systems
Lead capital projects involving automation, electrical, or process control components
Drive data collection efforts, Industry 4.0 migrations, and cybersecurity strategies
Perform and lead machine risk assessments, ensuring compliance with SISTEMA Level D and safety standards
Review control system documentation for new equipment to ensure safety and performance alignment
Collaborate with third-party vendors, engineering teams, and plant personnel to implement controls solutions
Develop 5-year ICS automation and obsolescence plans
Stay current on technologies, regulations, and best practices through ongoing learning
Perform additional duties as assigned
What You Bring
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology or Associate degree with certifications from Rockwell, Siemens, or Cisco and 4+ years of relevant experience
5–8 years of hands-on experience supporting controls systems in a manufacturing environment
Technical Skills
Strong experience with Siemens PCS7, WinCC, Simatic Batch, and Route Control
Proficiency with Rockwell PLCs and related software
Understanding of Profinet, Ethernet/IP, AS-I, IO-Link, and OT networking fundamentals (switches, VLANs, IP addressing)
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70B/70E/79 and safety system design and assessment
AutoCAD experience and strong documentation review skills
Project management capabilities and cross-functional communication experience
