Job Summary:

The Director of Business Intelligence will closely collaborate with the CEO and CFO to lead and oversee all aspects of the BI department. This role will be hands-on in day-to-day operations, managing team members directly, while sharing in the overall responsibilities of the department including data engineering, database administration, semantic modeling, reporting, distribution, and data analytics. Strong leadership, team-building with focus on morale, and development skills are paramount for success in this role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage the BI team and oversee all daily operations fostering continuous improvement.

Oversee all growth and strategic aspects of the data team including engineering, analytics, governance and BI.

Provide technical expertise and mentorship to all team members.

Develop and execute strategies to meet departmental goals and objectives.

Collaborate and partner with executive leadership to achieve overall business goals.

Assist in developing, overseeing, and approving project plans, budgets, and timelines.

Collaborate in building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Assist in measuring and reporting on the performance of BI initiatives, proactively identifying areas for improvement and optimization.

Maintain an ongoing list of projects and deadlines, ensuring timely completion and delivery with team members.

Actively identify areas of improvement and new opportunities for BI enhancement, contributing to strategic planning discussions.

Manage and establish department guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Directly oversee and manage team members in the execution of BI tasks and projects, providing guidance and support.

Foster the development and growth of team members through mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities.

Perform additional duties as assigned or at the discretion of management, including supporting the CFO as needed.

Present strategic insights to executive leadership and business stakeholders in a clear, concise, and effective manner.

Create process documentation for standard operating procedures of the BI department.

Additional tasks as needed for growth of the department.

Required skills/Abilities:

Proficient knowledge of business intelligence principles, practices, and technologies.

Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to enhance BI processes and systems.

Strong project and program coordination skills, adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Process-oriented and quality-focused with exceptional attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Self-motivated and quick to learn, with a drive to consistently meet and exceed objectives.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, fostering a positive and productive work culture.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 10+ years in a Business Intelligence or data engineering leadership role

Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mathematics or related field.

Director level experience is required.

Proven management experience and leadership capabilities, must have experience managing a team of analysts and engineers.

Proficiency in PowerBI and Python is required.

Must have experience with multi-dimensional modeling in Power BI capacity.

Proven experience with BI tools and technologies, such as SQL, Power BI, Python, Excel etc.

Proven ability to perform clear and concise presentations to leadership and stakeholders

Deep understanding of all functional areas of data management, reporting, and engineering.
