Job Title: Lead CNC Machinist

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Lead CNC Machinist to join a reputable manufacturer and distributor of mechanical seals. This role involves fabricating parts for the seals and pump industry, with a true job shop approach handling parts ranging from 2" to 20" in diameter. The materials include 316 Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Inconel, titanium, and other exotic metals.

Responsibilities

Operate a 5-axis CNC Machine (Multi U400) which includes mill and lathe functions, both vertically and horizontally.

Utilize Okuma OSP controls and read Esprit programming.

Perform light manual machining using a horizontal lathe and vertical mill to clean parts.

Deburr parts, cut with a manual saw, and conduct quality control using measuring tools.

Perform light maintenance on machines.

Start as the sole machinist in the shop with the goal of growing the machine shop and eventually becoming a lead machinist.Essential Skills

10+ years of CNC machining experience in a job shop environment.

Experience with 5-axis CNC machines.

Ability to recognize and make edits to CNC programming.

Proficiency in Okuma OSP controls.

Strong communication skills and experience with Microsoft Teams.

Autonomous and self-driven work ethic.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with CNC programming from scratch.

Experience with manual mill and lathe operations.

Knowledge of the seals industry.

Understanding of G & M codes, tolerances, calipers, and blueprint reading.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The primary workplace is a medium-sized, newer facility located in Houston, TX. The shop is clean and mostly air-conditioned, although bay doors are sometimes open. The environment is well-organized and process-oriented. The team currently consists of 20 shop workers including assemblers, warehouse staff, welders, and CNC programmers. Safety gear such as steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses are required. The standard first shift runs from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the flexibility to work additional hours as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr.
