Tool and Die Maker
A precision manufacturing company in Broadview, IL is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to support its tooling and die operations. This hands-on role involves building, maintaining, and repairing dies, jigs, gauges, and tooling used in fineblanking, stamping, and other production processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in toolroom operations, CNC machining, and blueprint reading, with the ability to work from technical drawings and ensure tools meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
Responsibilities of the Tool and Die Maker
Work from blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
Manufacture components to tight tolerances and inspect finished dies for timing accuracy and defects
Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine and hand tools
Build, maintain, and repair manufacturing tooling, compute finishing details of dies, and ensure manufacturing standards are met
Train apprentices or subordinates in the use of Toolroom equipment, blueprint reading, and required measuring tools
Maintain and complete production assignments according to schedule and supervisor expectations
Efficiently debug dies in an accurate and timely manner
Work with Tool Design Engineers to ensure tooling manufacturability
Requirements of the Tool and Die Maker
Experience with Progressive Dies
Proficiency in the use of all Toolroom equipment and machinery
Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately
Minimum of 4 years of toolmaking experience in fineblanking, stamping, EDM, CNC, or plastic insert molding
Experience setting up and operating conventional or CNC machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders
1st and 2nd shift available, DIRECT HIRE
Pay is $38.00 - $45.00 an hour, based on experience
