Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for the planning for and purchasing of raw materials, components, supplies and services in support of manufacturing. Incumbent manages and provides tactical and day to day focus on key aspects of the purchasing/planning process in support of Sales, Engineering, Inventory, and Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform inventory management and demand management responsibilities to maximize order fill rate and inventory turns.
2. Establish purchasing requirements and stocking levels for low volume/high mix products.
3. Source potential suppliers of new products and procure and manage all commodities to achieve significant and measurable cost savings.
4. Support on-going quality initiatives.
5. Responsible for supplier rating and performance - Establishes vendor performance goals and measured results.
6. Manage and lead supplier cost savings initiatives.
7. Set-up and manage inventory programs i.e., KanBan, Consignment and Blanket PO’s with suppliers to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing flow.
8. Provide accurate status reporting for incoming components at the production meetings.
9. Use production plans, bills of material, stock status and other sources of data to determine requirements for material and other purchases.
10. Communicate with vendors to verify order status, adjust order schedules, obtain return authorizations, maintain vendor approval status and obtain quotes for delivery and pricing as required.
11. Maintain purchasing department files for purchase orders and vendor approvals.
12. Assist with control of material inventories, including physical inventories of customer-consigned materials, cycle counting activities and periodic physical inventories.
13. Prepare periodic reports of inventory levels and material usage for specified customers.
14. Participate in meetings to determine the requirements of potential new projects or products.
15. Investigate sources of supply and related costs, and enter data in computer systems.
16. Assist with the development of production plans and schedules.
17. Communicate with various departments to determine material constraints, capacity limits, customer priorities and special requirements.
18. Communicate productions schedules to production, quality and materials supervisors/managers.
19. Assist with preparation of a wide range of periodic and special reports relating to purchasing/vendors, scheduling and customers.
20. Performs other related duties as directed by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Qualified candidates will have 3 to 5 (three to five) years’ experience with procurement and MRP/ERP in a manufacturing environment (medical device experience preferred)
· Bachelor’s degree, Purchasing/Supply Chain Certification or equivalent work experience required.
· Multiple commodities buying/sourcing experience preferred with strong negotiation skills.
· Prior experience in purchasing/inventory controls a must with knowledge in an FDA regulated environment preferred.
· Good working knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA, QSR & GMP for Medical Devices and CMDR preferred.
· Self-starter with the desire and ability to take initiative on projects.
· Must have the ability to work on multiple projects, ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously.
· Direct and work effectively within a team setting.
· Exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Good working conditions (office environment) with frequent exposure to warehouse and manufacturing areas. The warehouse and manufacturing areas may be dusty, noisy, dirty and may have unpleasant odors.Company Description
